Fahad Mustafa

Fahad Salahuddin, known professionally as Fahad Mustafa, is a prominent Pakistani actor, producer, and television host. He works extensively in Urdu films and television. As one of Pakistan's highest-paid actors, he has built a massive reputation across multiple entertainment sectors. Mustafa also hosts the popular game show Jeeto Pakistan, which has been running since 2014.

Early life and education

Mustafa was born on June 26, 1983, in Karachi, Pakistan. He belongs to a Sindhi family. His father is the veteran Sindhi actor Salahuddin Tunio. Mustafa has one sister and two brothers. He initially enrolled in the Doctor of Pharmacy program at Baqai Medical University in Karachi. However, he dropped out before he could complete his studies. He credits Indian actor Govinda as the inspiration for his decision to pursue acting.

Career

Mustafa began his acting journey in the early 2000s. He first gained recognition through the television series Sheeshay Ka Mahal in 2002. Although the serial did not perform well, his work was noticed by industry professionals. He appeared as a silent character for approximately 17 or 18 episodes. This formative experience helped him gain confidence despite initial reservations regarding his appearance.

He made his television debut in Umrao Jaan Ada in 2003. His breakthrough came with the drama Veena in 2009. In this role, he portrayed a transgender character and filmed on location in Sindh. He also featured in Aashti in 2009, where he played a Bengali character. Other notable television serials include Main Abdul Qadir Hoon in 2010, Ek Tamanna Lahasil Si in 2012, Daagh in 2012, Kankar in 2013 and Dusri Biwi in 2014. After a nine-year hiatus from television serials, he made a comeback in 2024 with Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum.

Mustafa entered the film industry in 2014 with the hit Na Maloom Afraad. He starred in Mah e Mir in 2016 and the successful Actor in Law that same year. In 2018, he appeared in two films released on the same day, 22 August: Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2 and Load Wedding. He is scheduled to star in the zombie thriller Zombeid in 2026.

Beyond acting, he ventured into production at age 25 in 2008. He co-founded Big Bang Entertainment and produces many series for ARY Digital. His work as a producer has received numerous awards. Mustafa is also a prolific host. He has hosted the 1st Hum Awards in 2013 and the 2nd ARY Film Awards in 2016. He also hosted the opening ceremony of the 2017 Pakistan Super League in Dubai.

Personal life

Mustafa married Pakistani writer Sana Fahad in 2006. The couple has two children. They welcomed a daughter in April 2011 and a son in January 2016.

Awards and recognition

His performance in the drama Veena earned him a nomination for Best TV Actor at the Lux Style Awards. He won the Best Actor Award for his role in the film Actor in Law at the 16th Lux Style Awards. That same film also won the Film of the Year Award. Most recently, he earned the Lux Style Award for Best Actor Popular for his work in Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum.
