Neelam Muneer is a Pakistani actress and model who performs in various television dramas and films. She rose to prominence through her roles in popular television series and commercially successful movies.

Early life and education

Neelam Muneer Khan was born on 20 March 1992 in Mardan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Although she was born in Mardan, she was brought up in Karachi. Her father passed away when she was only three years old. Because of this loss, her mother raised Neelam and her three sisters as a single parent.

She began modelling while she was still in school. Later, she completed her graduation through private study. Shamoon Abbasi initially approached her for a television series. She eventually entered the industry via the drama serial Thora Sa Aasmaan, which aired on PTV Home under the direction of Kazim Pasha.

Career

Television

Muneer made her acting debut in the series Thoda Sa Aasmaan. She later appeared in Meri Subha Ka Sitara on Geo TV and Qaid-e-Tanhai. Her television credits include Aankh Macholi, Shehr-e-Dil Ke Darwazey, and Jal Pari. She also worked on the serials Meri Saheli Meri Humjoli and Ashk.

She appeared in several Geo TV productions, including Meri Behen Maya and Daray Daray Naina. In 2018, she took on the leading role in the social drama Umm-e-Haniya. That same year, she portrayed Ulfat in the series Dil Mom Ka Diya. This show became one of the most watched programs in the history of Pakistani television.

From 2019 to 2020, she appeared in Kahin Deep Jaley alongside Imran Ashraf. In this production, she portrays Rida, a girl who faces misfortunes caused by her cousin's jealousy. She also appeared in the 2020 serial Bikhray Moti. In this project, Muneer played Ayeza, a character described as a strong and independent girl.

Film

Muneer made her film debut in 2017 with the comedy-thriller Chupan Chupai. She starred opposite Ahsan Khan in this production. Rahul Aijaz of The Express Tribune reported that she serves a limited function of sprinkling masala in the film. Despite this critique, the movie was a commercial success.

She next starred in the romantic-comedy Wrong No. 2 opposite Sami Khan. This film served as a sequel to the 2015 movie Wrong No. and was released on Eid al-Fitr, 2019. Her performance in this sequel received better reception than her debut. Both Chupan Chupai and Wrong No. 2 proved to be successful at the box office.

Muneer also performed an item number in the film Kaaf Kangana. Haiya Bukhari of Dawn noted that she emotes with her eyes and facial expressions rather than performing scandalous moves. In 2022, she played dual roles as twins in the murder mystery film Chakkar, which was directed by Yasir Nawaz.

Personal life

Neelam married Mohammad Rashid in January 2025. He is a resident of the UAE and works as an officer for the Dubai Police’s Crime Investigation Department. The couple had a love marriage with a ceremony held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Rashid owns several businesses, including a few restaurants and a travel agency.

According to his brother Samar Rajnha, the family is originally from Mianwal Ranjha, which is a village located in Punjab, Pakistan. Rashid has resided in Dubai since 2006.

Awards and recognition

Muneer received a nomination for Best Film Actress at the 17th Lux Style Awards for her work in Chupan Chupai. Her performance in Dil Mom Ka Diya earned her another nomination at the 18th Lux Style Awards for Best TV Actress.
