Mustafa Zahid

Mustafa Zahid is a Pakistani music composer and singer. He serves as the band leader and lead vocalist for the rock band Roxen. Since forming the group in 2004, he has achieved significant success across South Asia and Bollywood.

Early life and education

Mustafa Zahid was born on 18 December 1984 in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. He attended Government College University and the National College of Arts. As a child, he did not intend to become a professional singer. His interest in music began during his youth.

A specific event at a college event changed his trajectory. While hosting the event, professors requested that he sing. He hesitantly performed a few lines from "Bheegi Bheegi Raaton Mein." This experience motivated him to pursue a career in the music industry.

Career

Zahid co-founded the rock band Roxen in 2004 with his friends. The group released their debut album, Roxen-E-Dewaar, in late 2006. This album topped charts across South Asia for nearly 6 weeks. Following this success, the Indian release of the album occurred in mid-December 2008.

Universal Music signed Zahid and Roxen for a worldwide album release. His career reached a major milestone in mid-2007. Two of his songs were featured in the Bollywood movie Awarapan. These tracks included "Toh Phir Aao" and "Tera Mera Rishta."

He has since contributed to over 12 Bollywood songs. His filmography includes major hits from Aashiqui 2 and Ek Villain. He also provided vocals for the films Raaz and Runway. These contributions helped him gain international status as a vocalist.

Zahid maintains a massive digital presence. He is reported to be among the top 3 most-followed Pakistani artists on Spotify. His profile currently holds over 5.5 million followers.

Personal life

Mustafa Zahid comes from a family with musical connections. He is the nephew of Ali Azmat, who was the former lead vocalist of Junoon. He is also related to Inayat Hussain Bhatti. Bhatti was a late Sufi kalam singer, actor and producer.
