Tanvir Ahmed Pakistan Cricket Player
Tanvir Ahmed born 20 December 1978 in Kuwait City, Kuwait is a Pakistani test cricketer. Ahmed is mainly a fast-bowler. He played for Pakistan in a first-class match against Worcestershire in the tour of England in 2010 He was later chosen to play in the second test in Pakistan’s 2010 home series against South Africa in the UAE in which he took six wickets (6/120) during the first innings.

Tanvir made his ODI debut on May 2 2011 in the 4th One Day International against the West Indies, along with Usman Salahuddin, taking 1 wicket for 45 runs off 6 overs
A right-arm fast bowler, Kuwait-born Tanvir Ahmed shot to the limelight in domestic circles when he became the leading wicket-taker in 2009-10 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy with 85 wickets at an impressive average of 17.12. His contribution was more than valuable as it helped Karachi Blues lift the trophy for the eighth time. Since his debut in 1998-99, Tanvir has represented several Karachi teams and has also played for Sind and Baluchistan.

Tanvir Ahmed, a Kuwait-born right-arm fast-medium bowler made headlines during the 2009-2010 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy (Pakistan’s premiere domestic competition) where he took 85 wickets at an exceptional average of 17.12. His domestic performance soon earned him a call from national selectors who selected him for Pakistan tour of England, where he was gameless for the whole tour. However, the selectors once again selected him for South Africa series in UAE where he made his debut in the second Test match at an age of 31.
Pakistan is famous for producing fast bowlers at a young age, however, Tanvir is one of the oldest fast bowlers to make international debut. In his first over of Test career, Tanvir took a wicket on his third ball. He had a memorable Test debut as he took 6 wickets in the first innings and scored vital 30 runs which helped Pakistan avoid the follow-on. He impressed one and all with an outstanding display of swing bowling on a placid UAE pitch. His impressive Test debut in addition to his decent First Class stats once again earned him a call-up against New Zealand in December 2010.
His last appearance in Tests was the second Test match against West Indies at Basseterre in May 2011. Coming in to bat when Pakistan were 187 for 7 in the first innings, he scored his maiden Test fifty and put up a 78-run partnership with Saeed Ajmal for the last wicket, thereby taking Pakistan to a decent total. Later, he made his ODI debut against Ireland before the selectors ‘rested’ him for the tour of Zimbabwe and then did not recall him for the next two Test series’ against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
