Rauf Lala

Rauf Lala was born on January 1, 1960 in Karachi, Pakistan, is a famous Pakistani comedian, actor, writer, and producer. He has been working in Pakistan stage dramas and TV for more than three decades and earned much popularity. He is considered to be a renowned comedy talent for stage work. He started his career in 1978 as a comedian in One day Theater in Karachi with his teacher Razak Rajo. His first commercial show was “Susral Bara Janjaal” in 1982 with Umar Shariff, Javed Sheikh and others. He has worked with Umar Sharif and Moin Akhtar on numerous stage shows like “Bhudda Ghar Per Hai”, and “Bakra Qistoon Pay” in 1989 which still is a popular Pakistani stage show internationally. He has starred in many Lollywood films like Manila K Jaanbaz, Hum Toh Chale Susraal, Duniya Dil Walo Ki, Runway and Bhavnao Ko samjho. Rauf Lala has worked in TV serials, commercials, television films and shows for almost three decades including Ek Raat Ek Kahani, Funny Family, Super Karara and Comedy Kings. He was also invited in an Indian reality show by Channel Star One in 2006, to chip in with other fellow Pakistani’s and Indian actors. He appeared in The Great Indian Laughter Challenge – Season 2 which he won and was awarded the title “Comedy Ka Shahenshah”.
