Early life and education
Nadia Afgan was born in Karachi as the first-born child among four siblings. Her parents are Naila Afghan and Tanvir Afghan, who served as a retired Group Captain from the Pakistan Air Force. Because of her father's military postings, she lived in various cities throughout her childhood. She once aspired to become a fighter pilot—a dream inspired by her father's career—but gender restrictions prevented her from pursuing this path at that time.
Career
Afgan began her professional journey as an actress at the PTV Lahore Center. During her early years, she hosted talk shows and various nighttime transmissions for PTV. She earned prominence in the late 1990s and early 2000s through comic roles in sitcoms such as Family Front, 1 2 3, and Hubahu. Her portrayal of Mishi in the Sarmad Khoosat directed sitcom Shashlik brought her significant recognition. This production aired on PTV Home in 2000 and was later re-aired on Geo TV in 2011.

In 2016, she directed Shaam Dhaley for A&B Entertainment while also playing a supporting role. Her career experienced a major resurgence in 2018 when she played Shahana Batool in the Ramadan special Suno Chanda. This character was a typical Punjabi mother written by Saima Akram Chaudhry.
She reprised her role as Shahana Batool in the 2019 sequel, Suno Chanda 2. In 2018, she also debuted as a director on Bol TV with Parlour Wali Larki. This project focuses on the dreams and aspirations of two small town girls. She appeared in Kala Doriya that same year, where she portrayed a character named Tanno. Her roles continued to vary, including a dutiful police officer in Parizaad in 2021 and a powerful Saraiki clan head in Dushman in 2022.
In 2023, Afgan played Shamim, a selfless lover, in the production Kabuli Pulao. She most recently portrayed a gullible housewife from a small neighborhood in the 2025 drama Sharpasand.
