Jadid Khan Pathan is a Pakistani footballer who currently serves as the captain for Afghan Chaman. He plays as a midfielder in the Pakistan Premier League and has represented his country at the international level. Throughout his career, he has achieved significant success both at the club and national levels.
Early life and education
Khan was born on 6 January 1989 in Chaman, which is located in the Balochistan province of Pakistan. He spent the majority of his professional career playing for the club in his hometown. From 2008 to 2011, he served as the captain for Afghan Chaman.
Career
Khan made his debut for Afghan Chaman during the 2007–08 season. He spent much of that first year playing as a substitute before scoring his opening goal on 3 December 2007 against Pakistan Navy. That match ended in a 2–2 draw, and he later scored another equalizer against the same opponent on 11 January 2008. He finished his debut season with 3 goals in 15 appearances.
He was appointed captain of Afghan Chaman just one year after joining the club. During the 2008–09 campaign, he recorded his first senior hat-trick against Pakistan Television on 22 November 2008. He completed the three goals in a span of only 15 minutes. By the end of that season, he had scored 5 goals in 26 appearances.
The 2010–11 season proved to be highly productive for the midfielder. He scored 10 goals in 30 appearances, which included a second career hat-trick against Young Blood on 14 October 2010. During the following 2011–12 season, Khan demonstrated exceptional scoring ability. He famously scored a solo goal against Pakistan Navy by dribbling past four defenders, an act that prompted the home crowd to shower him with cash prizes. He ended that campaign with 22 goals in 30 appearances, helping his team secure a second-place finish in the league.
Khan briefly joined WAPDA during the 2012–13 season. He later returned to Afghan Chaman for the 2013–14 season, where he scored 10 goals in 30 appearances. After a period of footballing inactivity in Pakistan, he joined WAPDA again for the 2016 PFF Cup. In that competition, he scored a hat-trick against Pakistan Navy during the group stage.
In 2017, Khan moved to the newly promoted club Sui Southern Gas after being signed by former national coach Tariq Lutfi. He played for the side until 2019 before returning to Afghan Chaman. During his second stint with his hometown club, he captained the team to victory in the Balochistan Football Cup. He scored a vital goal in the semi-final against Afghan FC Pishin to ensure their place in the final.
International career
Khan earned his first international cap during the 2008 SAFF Cup against the Maldives. He scored his first goal for Pakistan on 6 April 2009, finding the net against Brunei during the 2010 AFC Challenge Cup qualification. In 2011, he captained the Pakistan under-23 team during the 2012 Summer Olympics Qualifiers. He also participated in the 2011 SAFF tournament and the 2012 AFC Challenge Cup qualifications.
Awards and recognition
Khan won the Pakistan Premier League Golden Boot during the 2011–12 season. This achievement came after he finished the campaign as the league's top-scorer with 22 goals.
