Sana Javed is a Pakistani actress and model who performs on Urdu television. Born in Jeddah, she has built a significant following through her diverse roles in television serials and films. Her career spans from modeling in commercials to leading major drama productions.
Early life and education
Sana Javed was born on 25 March 1993 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. She is the daughter of Pakistani parents. Her paternal lineage hails from Hyderabad Deccan and includes some Kashmiri origin. She attended the Pakistan International School in Jeddah for her school and college education.
The actress later moved to Lahore with her family. She eventually graduated from the University of Karachi.
Career
Javed began her professional journey as a young model appearing in various television commercials. These advertisements included brands such as Coca Cola, Bake Parlor, Warid Glow, Lipton and Mobilink. She transitioned into acting with a supporting role in the 2012 ARY Digital series Mera Pehla Pyar. During that same year, she made a small appearance in the production Shehr-e-Zaat.
Her prominence grew significantly in 2016. She played an antagonist in the Hum TV romantic drama Zara Yaad Kar alongside Yumna Zaidi and Zahid Ahmed. In 2017, she made her film debut in the socio-comedy Mehrunisa V Lub U. While she was originally signed for the lead role in Rangreza, she later withdrew from that specific project.
Public appreciation surged after she portrayed the titular character in the romantic drama Khaani. She also received critical acclaim for her performance as Sameera in the social-based drama Ruswai. In 2020, Javed starred in Dunk as a university student. Although the series faced negative reviews regarding its subject matter, her individual performance earned praise. That same year, she served as the captain of the Islamabad Dragons team during the Jeeto Pakistan League.
Personal life
In October 2020, Javed entered a private Nikah ceremony with singer Umair Jaswal in Karachi. Reports suggested the couple separated in 2023 and some sources indicated a divorce occurred by November 2023. On 20 January 2024, she married former Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik. The couple confirmed their marriage by sharing wedding images on social media. It was alleged that they had been in a relationship for nearly three years prior to the wedding.
In 2022, certain models and makeup artists accused her of unprofessional behavior. These allegations included verbal abuse and mistreatment on set. She did not issue a public response to these claims.
Awards and recognition
Javed earned a nomination at the Lux Style Awards for her work in Khaani. Her role in Ruswai resulted in her winning the Pakistan International Screen Award (PISA) for Best Television Actress Critics. She continues to be a recognized figure in the Pakistani entertainment industry.
