Muhammad Rasool

Muhammad Rasool is a former Pakistani footballer who played as a forward for the Pakistan national team. Born on 23 May 1985, he established himself as a prolific goalscorer within the domestic league. He represented several prominent clubs during his professional career.
Early life and education
Rasool began playing football at an early age. He later joined his college football team where he served as captain. Under his leadership, the team won inter-college and inter-board tournaments in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He also played for the All Pakistan Universities team. This role led to his participation in the National Championship in 2004.
Career
Rasool joined Khan Research Laboratories during the 2006–07 season. He scored his first league goal on 14 December 2006 against Wohaib. During the 2007–08 season, he recorded 8 goals in 26 appearances. His performance improved significantly in the 2008–09 campaign. He secured the golden boot that year by scoring 22 goals in 26 games.
He won the National Challenge Cup with Khan Research Laboratories in 2009. Following this success, Rasool moved to KESC in 2009. He finished as the top scorer in the 2011 National Football Challenge Cup and the 2012 KPT Challenge Cup. While playing for KESC in the 2012–13 Pakistan Premier League, he suffered a serious injury during a match against Habib Bank. The collision with an opponent goalkeeper left him unconscious for 25 minutes and caused injuries to his face and legs.
Rasool achieved further success during the 2014–15 season. He helped K-Electric win the Pakistan Premier League title. He also finished as the league's top scorer by netting 22 goals in 22 games. These performances attracted interest from clubs in Zimbabwe and Ghana. He later scored for his club in the 2016 AFC Cup qualifying round against Druk United.
His international career included representing the Pakistan under-23 national team at the 2006 South Asian Games. He earned his first senior cap against Jordan during the 2007 AFC Asian Cup qualifications. Rasool appeared in a 9–2 victory over Guam in 2008. His final appearance for the national side occurred against Bangladesh during the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifications. Although FIFA suspended Pakistan from international football on 10 October 2017, Rasool participated in local exhibition matches involving Ryan Giggs and Ronaldinho.
In late 2019, he competed in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Football Cup with the DFA Chitral district team. He captained DFA Chitral to victory in the 2021 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Football Cup after defeating Muslim FC in the final.
Personal life
Rasool is from Charun in Upper Chitral. His younger cousin, Alamgir Ghazi, is also a footballer who has played for the Pakistan national team. In October 2023, Rasool donated 16.5 kanals of land to facilitate the construction of a sports complex in his hometown.
Awards and recognition
Rasool won the 2006 South Asian Games gold medal with the Pakistan under-23 team. He secured the National Football Challenge Cup in 2009 while playing for Khan Research Laboratories. His domestic honors include the Pakistan Premier League title with K-Electric in the 2014–15 season.
He earned the Pakistan Premier League Golden Boot twice, specifically in 2008–09 and 2014–15. Additionally, he won the Super Football League Golden Boot in 2010.
