Shyraa Roy

Shyraa Roy is a Pakistani singer, actress and producer who currently resides in Dubai. She gained widespread recognition as the first Miss Trans Pakistan to be crowned within the country during 2021 and 2022.

Early life and education

Roy was born into a Muslim family in Sialkot, Pakistan on 25 October 1999. She studies music under Anwar Rafi, who is himself a student of Mohammed Rafi. Although she pursues various artistic paths, her musical training remains a central part of her development.

On 26 September 2020, Roy disclosed to Independent Urdu that she is a gender dysphoric transgender woman. This revelation led to significant criticism and trolling across social media platforms. Despite these challenges, she continued her professional trajectory by releasing Kamli through ARY Films on 21 February 2021. She also established a new trend in Pakistan when her music video Duniya received a theatrical premiere at the Dha Lahore cinema.

Career

Roy achieved a historic milestone in the pageant industry on 25 May 2021. She was crowned Miss Trans Pakistan at the Swiss Lounge in Lahore. This specific pageant functioned as an extension of Miss Pakistan World, which opened its competition to trans women in 2021. Areej Chaudhary, who previously held the title of Miss Pakistan World 2020, performed the crowning ceremony for Roy.

Her involvement in major events continued into the following year. On 31 January 2022, Roy hosted the 20th annual Miss Pakistan award ceremony at the Aladdin Lounge in Lahore. During this event, she crowned Nida Khan as Mrs. Pakistan World 2022 and Ataullah Gujjar from Faisalabad as Mr. Pakistan World.

As a performer, Roy has taken on several diverse roles in various productions. She appeared in films such as Aks, Mohini in Mohenjodaro and Natasha in Saaho. Her work in the Indian entertainment industry includes an appearance in the web series Hello Shabnam, which was created by Ursula Manvatkar. In 2021, she performed a duet alongside Pakistani singer Mohsin Abbas Haider.

Roy expanded her influence into film production and lead acting roles. On 31 December 2022, she shared the first-look poster for her feature movie Sanak. She serves as both the lead heroine and the producer for this project, which marks her debut in Pakistani cinema through the direction of Vikram Bhatt in 2023.

Personal life

Roy is a transgender woman who has publicly shared her journey with gender dysphoria. She currently maintains a residence in Dubai while continuing her professional activities across different regions.
