Tasneem Ahmed Qureshi is a Pakistani politician who served as a member of the National Assembly from 2002 to 2013. He represented the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) during his tenure in the legislature. His political work focused on various national interests including foreign affairs, education, and health.

Early life and education

Tasneem Ahmed Qureshi was born on January 1, 1962, in Sargodha. He pursued higher education at Bahauddin Zakariya University in Multan. He completed an MBA degree at this institution. Professionally, he works as a tax consultant.

Career

His political journey began at the local government level. He held office as the Tehsil Nazim of Sargodha from August 2001 to July 2002. This role established his presence in regional administration before he moved to national politics. In the 2002 Pakistani general election, he ran as a candidate for the PPP. He contested the seat for Constituency NA-66 (Sargodha-III) and won. During this election, he secured 40,448 votes to defeat Muhammad Arshad Shahid of the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA).

Qureshi maintained his influence in the National Assembly through subsequent elections. He was re-elected from NA-66 in the 2008 Pakistani general election. This time, he received 69,943 votes and defeated Chaudhry Hamid Hameed. During his time in office, he served as the Minister of State for Interior. He also held the position of Minister of State for Water and Power.

His legislative work involved several specialized committees. He was a member of the Standing Committee on Labour and the committee for Manpower. Additionally, he served on the committee for Overseas Pakistanis. His areas of legislative interest included religious affairs, housing and health. In the 2013 Pakistani general election, he attempted to retain his seat in NA-66. He was unsuccessful in this bid after receiving 29,624 votes. Chaudhry Hamid Hameed won the seat during that election cycle.

Personal life

Qureshi is married and has a family consisting of two sons and two daughters. He has traveled to Saudi Arabia during his life. His personal interests include reading newspapers and traveling. He is a resident of Pakistan.
