Early life and education
Sanam Saeed was born in London, England, in 1984 or 1985. Her father is a retired interior designer and her mother served as an art teacher. The multi-ethnic family moved to Karachi in 1990 or 1991. She has one brother and one sister.
Saeed completed her O-levels at Bay View High School in Karachi. She later attended L'Ecole College to finish her A-levels. During her school years, she performed in various stage plays. These early experiences helped shape her interest in the performing arts.
Career
Saeed began her professional journey as a model at age 17. She noted that her height of 5 feet 9 inches assisted her in this field. Although she found modeling to be a good way to earn money, she reported that she did not particularly enjoy it. She eventually quit modeling due to increasing self-consciousness regarding her looks.
Her transition into media continued when she became a VJ on the Indus Music channel in 2003. In 2004, she joined Blackfish, which was Pakistan's first English-speaking improv comedy troupe. The group represented Pakistan at an international youth theatre festival in Manchester, England. She also contributed to the music industry as a background vocalist for the Coke Studio entourage in 2010.
Saeed made her television acting debut in 2010 with the ARY Digital serial Daam. She played the character Fiza, a selfish and arrogant girl. In 2011, she took on the lead role of Shazia in the Hum TV series Mera Naseeb. This performance earned her significant praise for portraying a rebellious character.
Her commercial breakthrough arrived through several high-profile projects in 2013. She starred as Yamina in Mata-e-Jaan Hai Tu and played Bibi in the drama series Talkhiyan. Her most famous role came in Zindagi Gulzar Hai, where she portrayed Kashaf Murtaza alongside Fawad Khan. This pairing became a major success and earned her three Best Actress awards.
Saeed expanded into film with her 2016 debut in the romantic comedy Bachaana. She also appeared in Dobara Phir Se during the same year. Her filmography includes appearances in Mah-e-Mir, Rahm, Azaad and the family drama Cake. In 2018, she played the main protagonist in the serial Deedan.
Personal life
Saeed has expressed a desire to open a school for disabled children. She also dreams of maintaining a happy married life. She married Mohib Mirza in 2021 after having worked opposite him in the 2018 serial Deedan.
