Pakistani tv actress
Jana Malik has worked in many dramas and long plays. Jana started her showbiz career as a TV actress in PTV Lahore’s serial REIGZAAR. Hardly 13 at that time, Jana managed to steal the show from her contemporaries in a role that was probably not too ling, but definitely substantial. Jana believes she is accountable for what she does. What’s more she can tackle some of the very difficult roles very easily, she never looks tense or nervous while performing. Neither does she appear over-confident.
And that’s not only what her bag full of surprises has offer, Jana is a keen model, as well, with various shoots to her credit. She has been mostly photographed by Khawar Riaz and worked with top stylists like Shamain.
In Jana Malik’s opinion, “It is important for a model or an actress to have a good face and figure, but there are a number of other things too. If a good face and figure were the only criteria for being a model, then all the body builders of the world and all the slim and pretty girls would have been model today. It is important that you have the right kind of attitude towards modeling and be able to carry a dress well. You should have the ability to give the right expressions in front of the camera and be confident and peppy. Pretty face and curvaceous figure is an incentive, of course. But I strongly feel that there should be no fixed age limit in modeling. If one can maintain oneself even when one is older, they must be given an opportunity to model”.
Jana Malik is Pakistani tv actress who started acting at a very young age. After being introduced to television by renowned PTV producer Ayub Khawar, her debut on television came in the drama 'Reizgar' when she was only 13 years old. The next few years saw her appearing in the drama 'Maigh Malhaar' and in the children's musical show 'Aangan Aangan Tarey'.
Later on, Jana started appearing in more mature roles such as the one in drama serials 'Ibn-e-Adam' (ARY Digital) and 'Anokhi' (A Plus) as well as a long play 'Second Chance' (ARY Digital).
Her famous PTV dramas include 'Bulandi', 'Ghuroor', 'Jinhain Raste Main Khabar Hui', 'Landa Bazar', 'Aankh Macholi' and 'Moum'. She has also acted in a few Lollywood movies including 'Muhafiz' and 'Zeher'.v
Can you imagine a Pakistani film heroine reading Robert Ludlum or for that matter learning French? Resham would never do it and Meera could never imagine even thinking about it.
But where Jana Malik is concerned, she's not only the new sensation to have hit the Lollywood turf, rather she's an intelligent girl, well versed in the art of speaking, educated and her pet avocation is wading through English novels. Youthful, peppy, bursting with talent these sure just a few words that describe this new aspiring starlets.
And then she is a chip off the old blocks --- blocks and not block because her father Raheel Bari and grandfather Bari Malik are producers, distributors and studio owners. Her mother, Sasha, is a TV actress with plays like Karb and Red Card to her credit,
maternal grandmother Laila was a one time glamorous film heroine, and step parent grandmother Saloni was also a popular supporting star of the 60s. so with such a strong background in films. How could the poor little rich girl be spared of it? She was literally born in the lap of stardom and grew up in a FILMI ambience.
Yet when you come across her, she is not FILMI at all. Thanks to mommy, Sasha. As she walked in gracefully to give the interviews at the rendezvous that we fixed, she looked like any other smart teenybopper who's aspiring to get good marks in her studies and growing up in the secure nest of her parents, Sasha, with whom she lives, is as smart daughter.
Jana may appear simple yet her looks cannot be termed as the girl next door. She has something special about her a part from her fair complexion, height and class, that sets her apart. What is it JANA? She giggles in embarrassment, how should I know. you have to tell me that, was her reply.
Her eyes were sparkling with youth, so was her snazzy timepiece, the reflection of which was quite visible in her eyes. Jana takes no pain in being dressed up all the time like other heroines.
She looked fresh in her fluorescent to a thin line, slim lips making a pout, skin improved from what I saw previously, and waistline shrunk, making her look svelte. How did this all happen? well, it's just that I take care of myself and follow a strict routine whenever I feel I need it.
How did a good girl like her end up in the big bad world of show business? Excited, she replies, Film world is not all that bad. Good and bad people are everywhere I think show business has some of the world's most talented individuals who are striving to make their presence felt.
How can you rate them as bad? On my part, I was born in the family of film bigwigs, so how could I be spared of it? It was in my blood and that's what induced me to enter the realm of show business. Of course I took permission from my mother. When she agreed, I jumped at the first opportunity.
Jana started her showbiz career as a TV actress in PTV Lahore's serial REIGZAAR. Hardly 13 at that time, Jana managed to steal the show from her contemporaries in a role that was probably not too ling, but definitely substantial.
The serial directed by Rashid Dar was no less than an arty film replete with deep intensity and solemnity. Jana's role was very challenging and something very difficult for a debutante to perform.
Next in line was NTM's privately produced serial MEGH MALHAAR. Here Jana had the opportunity to work with senior artiste like Asif Reza Mir, Shamim Hilaly and Naeem Tahir.each one had a challenging and strong role. So did the young Jana, but her performance won laurels as in her age group of performers, she was still the best in the serial.
Jana admits that television has taught her the basics of acting, my mother is my biggest inspiration in acting. With her guidance and strong support, I went prepared for the TV serials.
But working there gave me a lot of confidence and I got to know a number of things that I could have otherwise never learned. I was lucky that the two TV serials that I worked in were with good teams and I had the opportunity to perform serious and demanding character.
This seems difficult for newcomers, but I am glad that I was granted such roles in the initial stages as it really helped me in building up a strong base for my future performances.
Jana may appear talkative, but she likes to be quiet at times, too. However, she has a reply in store for all your questions and unlike other heroines she refrains from bitching about her contemporaries.
I respect all my senior colleagues and acknowledge their talents and contribution in the film industry, says Jana. I hate back biting about any of them because they are extremely talented and nice to me. Why should I gain popularity through such screaming press statements with out any reason? I don't want to get into this rut, please,
Jana has been selected by Syed Noor to play an important role in his forthcoming film MUHAFIZ, the shooting of which was conducted in Hong Kong. About her selection Jana said, we are on close terms with Noor uncle.
One day he just came up tome and said that I'll be his new heroines and before I could say anything, he said that I must trust him. And, of course, I trusted him and believe me it was a wonderful experience working with him.
He treats each member of the cast like his own family and makes one feel special. It was like a complete picnic. Hong Kong is such a great place and Noor uncle such a good director. The combination was deadly. I had a wonderful time with him and I am sure people will love this film,
About her role in the film she said, I might not be the leading heroine, but the film revolves around me. Nadeem uncle plays my bodyguard and Saud my hero. This film also has Saima and Andaleeb. It is an important role and Noor uncle has conceived it beautifully, Did Saima and Andaleeb give her a
hard time? She smiles, both of them are extremely friendly and fun-loving. Together we had a wonderful time. With Noor uncle as the head of the team, how can you not have a good time?
Jana's thin but wide lips flash a big smile when you admire any of her traits. So when I praised her habit of book reading, she was extremely pleased, what would I do if there were no books? I can't think of spending a day without granting ample time to books. Reading is a good habit but for me it's an addiction.
Is it a drawback for her to be so different from her peers? Jana thinks before she utters, Look, I am not a regular film actress who's working in two dozen films at a time. Handling so many assignments at one time is also commendable, but I am here just for the fun of it, otherwise I would have also signed a dozen films before the release of my film.
But I'll be very careful. I want to exude a certain image and I think I will manage to make a difference on screen too. I don't say that I am the best. I will make an impact in my own humble style.
I have no intention of beating anyone or for that matter dethroning someone. I don't want to involve my self in much petty issues. Of course, I want to work gracefully and prove my mettle to the world, but I just cannot indulge myself in stupid things.
Jana believes she is accountable for what she does. What's more she can tackle some of the very difficult roles very easily; she never looks tense or nervous while performing. Neither does she appear over-confident.
And that's not only what her bag full of surprises has offer, Jana is a keen model, as well, with various shoots to her credit. She has been mostly photographed by Khawar Riaz and worked with top stylists like Shamain. About her modeling stint, Jana say's,
it is an interesting gig, not too time consuming like films and TV, and pays well too. But there's not too much work for a person to solely depend upon this trade. Plus, it is short-lived, an actor can be an actor all his life, there are important roles that he can play even at an old age.
But a model has to be young and fresh; at least this is the concept in Pakistani; although we've seen that in foreign magazines they make special provisions for the senior people to model too.
In Jana's opinion, it is important for a model or an actress to have a good face and figure, but there are a number of other things too, if a good face and figure were the only criteria for being a model, then all the body builders of the world and all the slim and pretty girls would have been model today.

Pretty face and curvaceous figure is an incentive, of course. But I strongly feel that there should be no fixed age limit in modeling. If one can maintain oneself even when one is older, they must be given an opportunity to model. By this time, the clock had struck one and Jana flashed one last innocent smile as she supplicated leave from me.
